The 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat now holds the title of the most powerful street car I have ever driven. 707 horsepower is a lot to corral on factory tires, and personally, I found that the Hellcat was too intimidating to be pushed hard on the technical confines of Portland International Raceway. It also proved impossible to match Chrysler’s advertised acceleration or quarter mile times for the SRT Hellcat unless 10 psi was removed from the rear tires – which means in cruising configuration there’s a lot of wheel spin to deal with.
I did enjoy the Scat Pack model, however, which features a 485 horsepower, 6.4-liter V8 that isn’t nearly as scary to drive. Check out the videos above for more of my impressions on the 2015 Dodge Challenger line-up. You can also read my review of the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat for Autobytel.
