This week I am behind the wheel of the 2015 Lincoln Navigator. Lincoln did a refresh for the current model year, including new styling inside and out along with the replacement of 2014’s 5.4-liter V8. In my opinion the decision to swap in a 3.5-liter twin-turbo EcoBoost V6 in place of that boat anchor V8 couldn’t have come soon enough, but I’m still on the fence about the rest of the changes for 2015 – especially consider just how nice a top-trim, mechanically-identical Ford Expedition is at a much lower price. We’ll see how I feel by Friday.
It’s sad, in a way – the Navigator feels left behind by the Escalade, when these two luxury ‘utes were once neck-and-neck. Ford kind of let the truck fade away by neglecting its drivetrain for so many years, a mistake that might lead to the end of the Navigator in its body-on-frame form by the end of its current life cycle.
